Opportunity for Graduate Studies in Brazil
The Federal Agency for the Support and Evaluation of Graduate Education (CAPES), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq) has launched a call for applications to the Graduate Agreement-Student Program (PEC-PG) selection.


Objective:
Through this program, citizens that come from developing countries with which Brazil maintains educational and cultural agreements may obtain a Masters or Doctorate scholarship in Brazilian institutions. Fellowships are granted in all areas of knowledge for which there are graduate programs that issue degrees whose validity is recognized in Brazilian territory.

Benefits:
Selected candidates will be exempted from university fees, receive a scholarship equivalent to that granted to Brazilian students, and receive a return air ticket to their country of origin upon completion of the course.

Eligible countries:
Candidates from the following Latin American and Caribbean countries may apply to a PEC-PG Scholarship: Antigua and Barbuda; Argentina; Barbados; Bolivia; Chile; Colombia; Costa Rica; Cuba; El Salvador; Ecuador; Guatemala; Guyana; Haiti; Honduras; Jamaica; Mexico; Nicaragua; Panama; Paraguay; Peru; Dominican Republic; Suriname; Trinidad and Tobago; Uruguay; and Venezuela.

Eligible Graduate Programs in Brazil:
Candidates shall apply to a Masters of Doctorate program in Brazil that are credentialed by CAPES and that have been evaluated with a grade equal or superior to 3. The list of available programs can be seen at: http://www.capes.gov.br/cursos-recomendados.

Scholarship duration:
* Masters program 24 months
* Doctoral program 48 months
Requirements:
Candidates need to be proficient in Portuguese and submissions will be presented online.

Calendar:

December 2011 Results will be announced
March 2012 Beginning of Graduate Courses


Scholarships in 2010:
In the 2010 selection process, a total of 168 students from the region were selected, among these 71 received Masters scholarships and 97 received Doctorate scholarships.
